What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign ® is a way to straighten your teeth without braces. Invisalign® is also referred by many as Invisible Braces, Clear Braces, Adult Braces, or Adult Orthodontics. Invisalign ® uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. It makes it much easier for you to get your teeth straightened without the look of those wires. It is a great way to get your teeth in perfect condition at any age.

Invisalign ® has been proven effective in clinical research and in orthodontic practices nationwide. In fact, over 70% of all U.S. orthodontists are certified to treat patients with Invisalign®. The numbers do not lie! Invisalign is one of the latest and greatest ways to get those perfectly straight teeth that you have always wanted. If you are looking for an alternative to traditional braces, this is the best way! Your St. George dentist is excited to tell you that Invisalign is available to every patient!

How Does Invisalign® Work?

When you begin with Invisalign, you are given two sets of aligners for your top and bottom teeth. If you are only straightening one set of teeth, you will only receive one aligner. You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Make sure that this is something that you follow regularly or else your aligners could be at risk! If you are not careful, the aligners will not work. This means that you should not keep the aligners out for over 3 hours or so. This could slow down the work on your teeth that your aligners have already done.

It is important to make sure that you take care of your teeth and your aligner during the process of straightening your teeth. Invisalign should only take about 6 to 18 months to straighten your teeth. If you have an underbite or overbite, this may change depending on your needs.

As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position your doctor has prescribed. You may notice a slight amount of pain from your teeth moving. This is one of the reasons that you will replace your aligners and you will have check-ups with your dentist to see just what changes have been made in your mouth.

You'll visit the dental practice about once every 6 weeks for check-ups to ensure that your Invisalign® orthodontic treatment is progressing as planned. If you are ready to finally take care of that overbite or those crooked teeth, it is time for you to try Invisalign. With all of the technology that we have, we can get you on track in no time at all. You will never have to worry about flossing in those hard to reach wires, avoiding foods that generally get caught in braces, and the pain and discomfort that comes from braces. You will also feel more confident knowing that no one can even tell you’re wearing your aligners!
